The Launderette

At the rear of the Community Centre is the launderette. All residents are entitled to use it, and a key is provided to each property. Tenants who do not have a key are requested to contact their landlord. Property owners who do not have a key should contact Mudd & Co.

There are charges for both washing and drying. We kindly request that users read the notices that are displayed in the launderette to ensure correct maintenance of the machines for all.

Defibrillator

In case of cardiac arrrest, a defibrillator is positioned next to the Community Centre notice board. You must dial 999 to get the access code. For further information on how and when to use it, please see the BHF website.

Parking

Parking spaces are for residents and their visitors only. When Holmefield was designed, fewer people owned cars. The subsequent increase in car ownership has sometimes resulted in a lack of parking spaces.

Parking is only permitted in designated areas. It is very important that cars are not parked on double yellow lines and that access to garages is always available. The Directors and Managing Agent are monitoring the availability of parking with a view to taking more action if it becomes necessary.

Garages

There are 40 garages for the use of residents only. A waiting list operates, overseen by Mudd & Co. When a garage becomes available the managing agent will contact the next resident on the waiting list. A separate rental fee is charged for a garage.

Neighbours

Most properties are closely linked so noise carries easily and can potentially disturb your neighbours. Therefore, you are kindly requested to consider this when planning large group events or having a barbecue, in your garden.

Please also be aware that, in accordance with the terms of your lease, ball games in communal areas are only permitted for children under the age of five.

Household Waste

Household bins are emptied every two weeks, currently on Monday mornings. See https://myaccount.york.gov.uk/bin-collections for dates and times. Please leave your bin by the road/path on the evening before collection and retrieve it as soon as possible after it has been emptied.

Communal recycling bins are situated at various points around the estate, including behind the Community Centre and near the Peel Close car park. They are also emptied every two weeks, on Mondays.

There are two categories of bins:
1. paper and cardboard,
2. glass, mixed cans and foil, soft plastics including PP5.

Please remember to wash and squash items before placing in the bins, and flatten cardboard boxes. If your nearest recycling bin is full, you can use one elsewhere, eg, behind the Community Centre or Peel Close car park.

It is important that the correct recycling items are placed in the appropriate bins. The council will refuse to empty them if the two categories are mixed together. It is not permitted to leave any other items near or around the bins.

We do not currently have any means of recycling green waste.

Disposal of Unwanted Items

Other than books and produce (see Community Centre), please help keep our estate tidy by disposing of any unwanted items through upcycling groups and charity shops. You may also advertise items on our Community Centre notice board. Thank you for your help with this.

York Council provides a collection service for bulky items such as fridges/freezers, furniture and mattresses. There is a charge for this. You can find out more at https://www.york.gov.uk/BulkyWaste

Fly-Tipping

Over the past year fly-tipping has become a problem, particularly on Peel Close. It has cost Holmefield Properties (and consequently home owners) a considerable amount in company funds to dispose of fly tipped rubbish.

Please report any instances / information about this issue directly to Matthew Wilson at Mudd & Co. Holmefield management will take robust action against any perpetrators, and make every effort to recover disposal costs.
